Remarks
Haynes (2001) p.355 and p.446, presumes that type-E hautboys signed I. H. Rottenburgh like this one, are made by the sons of Jean-Hyacinth Rottenburgh possibly after the latter’s retirement. The fact that the Rottenburghs change to French-style type-E hautboys could be an indication of the orientation of the factory, and probably its customers.
Bell inside shows regular traces of longitudinal gouge scraping or hand reaming.
