TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
Instrument with originally 4 ivory mounts, and 10 brass keys, with round spoon flaps type Heyde-181/2. 2 Rings (‘Brille’) on long axle and simple pillars. All other keys on short axles and pillars based on oval plates.
On TJ: Octave key (missing), C (missing) Bb and G# (missing);
On MJ: F# vent-hole in combination with the ‘Brille’, cross-F key, C-C# (both missing) and Eb keys. Long lever (missing) for low Bb (or C-correction);
Low B-key on bell.
Most key-holes milled out with countersunk edge.
The thumb rest (missing) was screwed into the body.
3rd hole doubled with finger cove.
Bell (with inner rim, no vent-holes.
SATK (springs attached to the keys).
Reed well metal lined.

Very poor condition: Being originally a 10-keyed oboe, most keys are missing now: Octave key, C for R1, G#, low C-C# and long lever for low B.
2 ivory mounts missing. Thumb rest missing. Corpus worn and scratched. Many plugged holes. Several cracks in bell.

Remarks
Ascribable to Guillaume Triébert. Many similarities with the no.1 oboe (“ancien système”, 11 keys) of the Triebert 1855 catalogue, but without the half-hole plateau. Probably an earlier model so, given the oval plate-based pillars, salt-spoon keyheads. The ring-keys on simple pillars seem original.
Da Silva (1992) p.11 dates this type of instruments c.1838.
